Victim Services

The Office of the District Attorney supports crime victims throughout and beyond the criminal justice process with specialized professionals who focus on the needs of victims. Victim Advocates keep victims informed about the progress of the prosecution. They obtain victim input on desired case outcomes. They are present with victims in court for any proceeding the victim wishes to attend. If you are a victim of crime, take a minute to read the information on this page to equip you with knowledge of your rights and the various services the Office of the District Attorney offers. You will not be alone in this process. Indeed, we strive to turn the misfortune of victimization into something that becomes, in time, a source of personal growth and strength. No matter the magnitude of the crime, victims of crime are forever changed by the criminal acts of others. The impact of victimization may manifest as anxiety, depression, distrust, anger or fear. There may be property damage or loss, medical bills, or a need for mental health counseling. Whatever the specifics may be for the individual victim, the Office of the District Attorney recognizes that every victim case is supremely important because it represents that moment in time when life changed, and the world seemed to become a darker place.
